Guardian Credit Union was founded in 1958 to provide savings and loan accounts to members of the Alabama National Guard and their families. Over the years, we’ve enjoyed steady growth and expanded our membership. Today, we are a full-service financial institution with membership open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the 14 counties we serve.
Currently, we have branch and ATM locations across Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Coosa, Covington, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Russell and Tallapoosa counties.
As our Chief Executive Officer, Heath Harrell, has said, “Each new member helps to strengthen this great credit union. We invite you to join us and be a part of this movement.”
People Helping People
When we say “us,” we’re referring to the Guardian organization and our members. Because, as a credit union, we exist solely for our members. Not for profit, but for members. And we are exactly what the credit union motto says: “People Helping People.” We are people helping people achieve their goals by providing high-quality, affordable financial service backed by outstanding local service.
Making Connections
When you join Guardian Credit Union, you become part of our movement that’s keenly focused on making connections between people and communities. By “making connections” we mean sharing experiences, gaining a deeper understanding of one another, working together and making us all stronger.
We’ve chosen a bench to represent our focus on making connections because benches are where people come together. Whether they’re watching children play in the park, waiting for a bus or chatting over a cup of coffee, benches are where we find common ground — and we believe nothing’s more important than that.
Benches are also where people come together to build and support communities. At Guardian, supporting our neighbors and communities is at the heart of everything we do.
Sharing Our Success
Again, we’re different from banks because we’re not for profit. We’re for people. We offer competitive, high-quality products and provide meaningful service to our members without excessive fees.
We’re led by a volunteer Board of Directors, unlike banks that have paid boards. We don’t have shareholders. Each member is an owner. So when we have a good year, each member has the opportunity to share in that success through lower loan rates, higher dividend rates and other special rewards and bonuses.
Supporting Our Communities
At Guardian, we strive to create connections every day as we work to meet our members’ financial needs. We also lean into and partner with local organizations to help support the communities we serve. We take advantage of every opportunity to inspire others to make valuable connections and improve the quality of life for everyone who calls our communities home.
